More about Rex and his Mentor Frank Hall
Rex was born an animal lover. From the time he could sneek out of his mother's yard in Michigan Center, MI, he would walk miles for the chance to gaze at a horse. At the age of eight his grandfather brought him to the home of Frank and Nettie Hall of Jackson,MI, master craftmen of Hall sleds and accomplished mushers. Frank took Rex under his wing and taught him all about mushing and caring for the dogs. Though he never got the opportunity to run a team of his own until he moved to Alaska with the army in the mid 1980's, Rex happily worked all he could for the chance to be around the dogs and learn everything he could from his mentor. Sadly, Frank Hall passed away this past year. His love for dogs, the sport, and his character as a musher and a person will always be a cornerstone of Arctic Paws Kennel.
What started as a hobby for Rex turned into an all-consuming way of life. Arctic Paws Kennel is now home to 97 of the finest sled dogs in the world. Each dog has a unique soul and is valued for what they add to the Arctic Paws team. We maintain a strict adherence to standards of care and routine. Rex's methods of care and training have proven to raise affectionate, well-socialized, hard working, and eager to please sled dogs. Our dogs don't just love to run, they love people, and they love being Arctic Paws dogs.
